Our mattresses are produced in China, in our own factory by a master sewer who we personally employ. He has 25 years of expertise and hand makes our beautiful cot mattresses. We use Australian and imported organic and natural materials. We are an Australian owned and operated company and our warehouse is in Melbourne. Our wool is tested by Australian Testing Authority, we import our latex from Sri Lanka and organic cotton from India.
-
No. The certified natural and organic materials used in Milari mattresses are not fumigated or irradiated upon arrival to Australia.
Because our materials do not contain untreated timber or raw wood particles that typically trigger fumigation requirements, and are imported with the appropriate documentation and compliance standards for natural fibres, fumigation is not required.
Australia has been importing and regulating natural materials such as wool, latex, cotton and coconut coir for decades. Our materials are carefully sourced and handled to preserve their natural integrity, breathability and performance — exactly as intended for your baby’s sleep environment.

No. Milari mattresses are not vegan, as we use Australian wool as part of our thoughtfully selected natural materials.
Wool is naturally temperature regulating, breathable and inherently fire resistant, which allows us to reduce reliance on added chemical fire-retardant treatments commonly used in conventional mattresses.
Unlike many synthetic fibres, wool has a naturally high ignition threshold and tends to char rather than melt or burn rapidly when exposed to flame. Its dense fibre structure and natural moisture content help slow flame spread, making it a thoughtfully chosen material in safer sleep design.
Beyond fire resistance, wool is also naturally breathable, moisture regulating and temperature balancing — helping create a comfortable sleep environment for little ones.
-
Our Milari Green Mattress features a breathable, water-resistant sleep surface inspired by the natural water-repelling effect seen on lotus leaves.
Using nanosphere fabric technology, particles bond to the fabric at a microscopic level, creating a non-stick, water-resistant effect — similar to how water rolls off a lotus leaf. Moisture and everyday spills are encouraged to sit on the surface rather than easily penetrating the fabric, helping make cleaning simpler for busy families.
Unlike many conventional waterproof sleep products that rely on plastic coatings or synthetic waterproof membranes, the Milari Green is thoughtfully designed to balance practicality with breathability and comfort.
For many families, this means added everyday protection without compromising the natural feel of a thoughtfully designed sleep environment.
Because safer sleep should feel practical, too.
-
Yes, latex is naturally fire resistant and we use lambswool as an additional natural fire barrier without the use of toxic fire retardants found in most cot mattresses.
-
Not at all — the unique and natural properties of wool make it an excellent temperature moderator, perfect even in warm weather. It is ideal for use in bedding as it helps wick away moisture from baby’s skin and keeps them comfortable all year round. Natural wool creates a microclimate that assists in regulating body temperature and humidity, providing a more rested night's sleep for your baby.
People wear clothing made of wool to keep warm in cold climates, and people wear it to keep cool in hot desert areas. For hundreds of years, nomadic people have chosen wool for their treks across some of the hottest lands on Earth. Milari Organics uses only the finest — 100% organic wool harvested from Australian farms known to us. -
Yes! Milari Green Mattress is covered in organic wool fire barrier and secured together by 100% certified organic cotton inner cover. Thus, there are no direct skin-to skin contact with any of the core components inside the mattress. The pebble outer cover which is a mattress protector and topper in one further eliminates the risk of allergies. About 1% of the population has a latex allergy and wool allergies are even less common. Many natural mattress companies falsely claim that their latex is hypoallergenic. Latex is not hypoallergenic, but ours is 100% natural, anti-microbial, free from VOCs, breathable, and durable. Still we recognize that a mattress made with organic latex may not be appropriate for those with an existing latex allergy. For children with extreme allergies you may wish to consult your paediatrician.
-
Our outer cover is a mattress protector and topper in one, so your mattress comes cot ready. We use nanosphere technology that prevents liquids and other life’s little messes from penetrating the surface. It is machine washable to 40 degrees. Please see our buyers guide for further care instructions.
-
Cot sheets are optional. Our mattress comes cot ready, but many parents choose a fitted sheet to prolong the life of their baby’s mattress.

No. Milari mattresses do not contain metal or inner spring systems.
Instead, they are thoughtfully crafted using certified organic and natural materials including coconut coir, natural latex, Australian wool and GOTS organic cotton. Many traditional spring mattresses rely on metal coils wrapped in synthetic materials such as polyester, foam or plastic-based components, which may limit airflow and move away from a fully natural construction. By contrast, Milari mattresses are designed using breathable natural layers such as coconut coir, wool and latex to encourage airflow, even support and material simplicity.
We believe thoughtfully chosen natural materials help create a more breathable and comfortable sleep environment for little ones. -
There are no Polluting Adhesives to bind the layers of the Mattress. We do not use solvent-based or water-based adhesives – which can emit harmful VOC and pollute the air – because doing so would a contradiction to the concept of natural and organic. Instead, we secure the layers with 100% GOTS certified organic cotton inner cover which creates a high-quality durable mattress without the unnecessary chemical adhesives.

Have you been hearing a lot about "VOCs" or "off-gassing" lately? That's because we're learning that indoor air pollution can be more dangerous than bad outdoor air. In fact, the EPA estimates that thousands of products release invisible gasses, known as volatile organic compounds (or VOCs), some of which are linked to nasty ailments. Think eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches, loss of coordination, and nausea. Some can damage the liver, kidney, and central nervous system, and some are suspected or known to cause cancer. Babies are especially vulnerable because they spend up to 17 hours a day sleeping or playing on their mattress and synthetic latex can emit hazardous chemicals (that's why we always use natural latex). Milari Organics uses only non-toxic materials to ensure that nursery air is cleaner and safer for infants.
-
No, our mattresses are safe, non-toxic. They do not off-gas. Some customers may experience a soft, sweet, vanilla-like smell after opening their mattress. In particularly humid climates, you may notice a very slight natural odour when your mattress arrives, which will dissipate quickly. This is a natural, not a chemical odour which is a result of the organic materials used (latex, wool, and cotton). We seal your mattress shortly after it is made in order to facilitate shipping. It is not harmful in any way.
-
Your cot mattress is appropriate for infants and children up to 4 years old.
-
To be green, we use brown shipping boxes with minimal branding. Our mattresses are not packaged in plastic. They are wrapped in cellulose film made from wood pulp which is degraded into non-toxic biomass that is marine, wildlife and environmentally friendly. Please place in a bin.

Yes — because our mattresses are made using natural and organic materials, they may have a subtle natural scent when first opened.
This is normal and comes from materials such as natural latex and Australian wool, along with being freshly packaged soon after production. Unlike many conventional products, we do not use artificial fragrances, deodorisers or masking scents.
The scent is temporary, naturally softens with airflow and is not caused by chemical off-gassing or added perfumes.
-
Yes — because our pillows are made using high-grade natural latex, they may have a subtle natural scent when first opened.
Some families describe this aroma as softly warm or slightly vanilla-like, which is a natural characteristic of latex. We do not use artificial fragrances, deodorisers or masking scents.
The scent is temporary, naturally softens with airflow and gradually fades over time.
-
No. The smell is not a reason for a return. We do not refund or return products based on smell preferences, if you do not like the smell of the product, please follow the airing out process on the FAQ page.
-
No. Our couriers will NOT deliver to P.O Boxes. Delivery address must be residential or business.
-
Because cot mattresses are bulky items, delivery times can vary depending on your location and courier network availability.
We ship with Aramex (formerly Fastway), and most metro deliveries arrive within approximately 5–10 business days after dispatch. Regional and remote areas may take longer, as partner couriers are sometimes used for final delivery.
Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive a tracking link with updates and delivery details. If your parcel appears delayed, we recommend lodging an enquiry directly with Aramex using your tracking information, as they can provide the fastest update on delivery status.
If you need help or are unable to contact the courier, please reach out to us and we will gladly assist where possible. While we’ll always do our best to help, delivery timeframes remain managed by the courier network.

There are 2 stickers on the mattress. On one side there is an infant sticker. The infant side does not contain latex and is the firmer side for new born infants.
The other side is the toddler side. The toddler side contain latex and generally as a guide for toddlers approx. 18 months + -
The Milari Green Baby Mattress is designed to be used with the removable pebble cover, which acts as a breathable, water-resistant protective layer for everyday family life.
While the mattress can technically be used without the pebble cover, we generally do not recommend it for regular use, as the inner organic cotton cover is intentionally lightweight and not designed to function as the main sleep surface.
If choosing to remove the pebble cover, we recommend using a breathable mattress protector together with a fitted cot sheet to help protect the mattress and support everyday practicality.
-
For safer sleep, the mattress should fit snugly inside the cot, with no large gaps around the edges.
Current safe sleep guidance recommends there should be no more than a 2 cm gap between the mattress and the cot sides. A well-fitted mattress helps reduce spaces where little arms, legs or bedding could become trapped.
We always recommend measuring the internal dimensions of your cot and comparing them with the mattress size before purchasing.
