How is the white achieved in a fabric that is safer for your little human?
Safe mattress means that the organic cotton is lightened by bleaching the natural fabric with a Oxy, (Hydrogen Peroxide) then washed and rinsed.
Why would you want to avoid synthetic dyes?
NO AZO dyes- synthetic dyes used in a variety of consumer goods. According to Product Safety Australia, a small proportion of azo dyes contain aromatic amines and some of those aromatic amines are suspected carcinogens.
NO Dye Setters- dye setter contains a very nasty chemical that’s commonly used in conventional textiles. It must be used with synthetic fibres, otherwise the dye will run.
No Phenol- often used as an antiseptic, a general disinfectant.
NO Formaldehyde - Formaldehyde is a toxic chemical and it’s presence can cause problems for many people, especially babies and young children. In people with known sensitivity some reported sites effects are dermatitis (skin rash or skin irritation) and runny nose or headache when they come in contact with products which contain formaldehyde.
NO harmful chemicals are used in any of our fabric colouring processes and our organic baby mattresses are formaldehyde free.
